Query: LYONS of the 59th Infantry Regiment

I received an email which included the  September, 2012 online issue of the Indiana Genealogist. That issue included an article by David C Bailey Sr. regarding Indiana GAR members in California. My Great Grandfather, William Bowden LYONS, joined the 59th Infantry Regiment, but I cannot seem to find any records of his belonging to the GAR. A family story says that he was on horseback in the 1890 National Encampment in St. Louis (he had moved from Indiana to Missouri in the early 1880's.) When he died in 1899, a contingent of GAR members accompanied his casket to the train for the trip home for burial. Can anyone help me locate his Camp?
Thank you

Query: SCHMIESING/WEGEHOFT/BALLMAN of Ripley County

My wife's great grandfather, Ludwig Louis SCHMIESING was married to a Wilhelmin Caroline WEGEHOFT in 1875 and we believe in Indiana.  Their first child, my wife's grandfather, Frederick SCHMIESING was born in Indiana in 1877.  They later moved to Cincinnati where they ran a dairy.  In 1892 Caroline died and is buried in the Vine Street Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati.  In about 1893 Louis remarried to Louisa BALLMAN in Covington, Kentucky and by 1897 the family moved to Minnesota.  We have not been able to find anything on the first wife, Caroline, other than where she is buried, and there seem to be any mention of her by the family.  We can not find anything out about her but believe they lived in Ripley County or another County close to Cincinnati.  We have visited her grave site in Cincinnati. Thank you for help that you can give.

Query: ATHA/ATHEY/ATHY Unknown County

I'm looking for information on the William and Catherine ATHA/ATHEY/ATHY. In the 1860 Federal Census you will find William (age 50) and Catherine (age 40) ATHA in Township 61, Gentry County, Missouri. I want to learn where in Indiana this family lived in the 1850 Federal Census (you will see by the birth locations of their children that they were in Indiana in 1850). ATHA might also be spelled 'ATHEY' or 'ATHY' or other variations. Please let me know if you can help.

Queries: EYER/FRETZ of Elkhart County

I am researching my family tree and have hit a stopping point in Elkhart County, Indiana.  My last name is EYER and I have traced my tree to a Henry EYER (my great-great-great grand father) who lived in Olive Township in 1860 according to census records.  He is from Canada and was born approximately in 1819 and was married to Mary FRETZ w children John, George, Sarah and Isaac.  I recently looked through the entire census record for Olive in 1860 and found several other EYERS that were also from Canada, including a second Henry EYER who was born approximately in 1805.  Other EYERS from Canada with approximate birth dates are:  Michael EYER 1835, Jeremiah EYER 1831, Jacob EYER 1842 and Christian EYER 1833.  Unfortunately, I haven't located a family tree with these EYERS or any other historical information.  I assume they are connected but I have hit a dead end from my own line with "Henry from Canada".

Query: SCHULTZ/WAGNER/MORGAN/SIMMON of Tippecanoe County

I'm hoping someone might suggest an approach for finding information about my paternal ancestors with the surname SCHULTZ.

My great-great grandfather Francis SCHULTZ (possibly Franz in his German days?) is said to have emigrated from Hesse, Germany to Pennsylvania in 1848, at the age of around 15.  He is said to have farmed for most of his life in the Wabash River valley west of Lafayette near Independence, Pine Village and Riverside.  He is thought to have died around 1899.
His second wife Elizabeth WAGNER came from Darmstadt.  Their two sons were George and Frank.
I hope to find some information that would enable me to trace the connection to Schultzes in Germany.
   Succeding generations are as follows:

George Carter SCHULTZ (b. March 26, 1863, m. March 29, 1888 to Bina Elizabeth MORGAN [b.Jan 15, 1870; d. Sept. 8, 1940], d. September 6, 1944, resided Riverside, IN.)

His son, my grandfather, was Archie Francis SCHULTZ (b. March 31, 1889; m  July 2, 1918 [Lucille Annette SIMMON, b. July 2, 1894, d. Sept. 19, 1967], d. Feb. 1, 1962, resided Fremont, OH.)

I would be grateful for any suggestions you have for researching my Indiana relatives.

Thanks so much,

Query: Marriage Records for Morgan County

When doing research in Morgan County marriage records I have noticed that there is a gap in the marriage records that were filmed by Family Search. (Film # 241996) between April of 1851 to December of 1852. I have also looked for other sources to cover this gap (newspaper extracts, private Indexes) but have found nothing to help me with that time frame. Does any one know if the records for this time frame are available anywhere.

My paternal, gr. gr. grandparents supposedly got married on 30, JUNE, 1824, in Harrison county, IN. I only have dates, because the marriage certificate was never returned to the courthouse or is still at the church office?  I saw where there are four places the wedding took place. Was it at a home? Was it at a courthouse? Was it at a church? Or possibly a Native American reservation? They were members of United Bretheran in Christ, which became First United Methodist? I don't know if they lived in Corydon or Maukport, from 1825--1835; Their names were: Hezekiah Stout DENHAM, b. 1802(Sept.--Dec.) TN; and his spouse, Winney LITTLE/LITTELL, b.1803, Jan.1, GA. They had at least seven children: unk. dau. 1825--1827; Penelope Jane Dennis 1829; William Jasper 1832; Hugh Little 1835, those in IN.  Reuben M. 1837 IA Obediah E. IA.

HSD had a brother, age and name unknown, that he contacted in 1866 while living in MN, at age 64. Where is he?

I'm looking for HSD's parents, his brother,  as well as what became of their youngest daughter. Are they buried in Harrison County?

My cousin, Dale Denham and I wrote and photographed the book, "Denham Thread's" 1987--1990, which got published, without the missing facts.
Sincerely,
