Query: Charles Lee Barton, Lawrence County

                I am searching for the ancestry of my great-grandfather, Charles Lee Barton, born 1832, probably in northeastern Tennessee, recruited for and fought with the Tennessee Volunteers and for the Union Army in the Civil War. 

                He had a medical retirement and later lived the majority of his life in Mitchell, Lawrence County, Indiana, married to Mary Elizabeth Alter Barton.  I have an abundance of information about him from 1860 on, but nothing verifiable prior to that date. 
                I would appreciate any information.
