Wayne County Genealogical Society To Hold Cemetery Restoration Workshop in Richmond

The Wayne County Genealogical Society will hold a hands-on cemetery restoration workshop on Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18 at the Hoover Bulla Historic Cemetery in Richmond, Indiana. Participants will be trained by professional conservation specialist Jonathan Appell on how to identify different monument types, clean gravestones using appropriate materials, repair damaged monuments, and reset leaning or fallen headstones. Jeannie Regan-Dinius from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources will give classroom instruction on Friday night (exact time and location to be announced), which will allow participants to be certified to probe for grave markers.

There is a cost to attend each day of the workshop, which will help with the costs of the materials. Lunch will be provided.
