Once again the United States Congress is taking aim at the Social Security Death Index. The Legal Genealogist has an article about H.R. 295, the Protect and Save Act of 2013. You can read about it here:

In addition, another bill has been filed: H.R. 466, the Social Security Death Master File Privacy Act of 2013. Library Journal's infoDocket has information and the PDF's of both bills on their website:

We can probably expect more bills to be filed in Congress on this issue.
