I located my great-great-grandfather Richard Lindsey in Greenfield, Hancock County, Indiana in the 1840 census. He was born in Ireland circa 1781. In the 1850 census I find many of his children, including minor daughters, living in Greenfield (a son Richard, William C., Aurelia, Eliza, John B., and family) but Richard and wife Nancy (McPike) Lindsey cannot be found in any census. There is no record he ever owned land, or was buried there. I wonder what other records are available for the time period 1840-1850?
