GARDNER/FREDERICKS/STINSON—My husband's grandmother was Laura Frances GARDNER, born December 9, 1896 in Clay County, Indiana to Edward W. and Catherine “Katie” Gardner, who afterwards moved to Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana. Laura had a son, Delbert F. Gardner, born August 2, 1915. No father was listed on his birth certificate, and he was later to be known as Delbert F. COLE.
Laura Gardner married 1) Freddy FREDERICK on May 14, 1921 in Clay County. Their daughter, Wilma Grace Frederick (my mother-in-law, now deceased), was born May 27, 1922. After an annulment or divorce, Laura married 2) Harry F. STINSON on March 4, 1925 in Vigo County. After that we have no trace of her. We have always wondered what happened to her, as her son had been placed in an orphanage and beginning at 17 months of age, her daughter was raised by great aunts in Parkersburg, West Virginia. This was after Laura's mother, Catherine “Katie” Gardner, died suddenly in December 1923. Any help finding what happened to this lady would be appreciated.
