Allen County Library To Discuss Researching in Historical Newspapers

The Genealogy Center of the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne will hold a free class, "Read All About It! Historical Newspapers for Your Research," on Thursday, March 20 from 10 to 11 am in the library's Meeting Room A. Delia Bourne will show how the newspapers of our ancestors' towns often included much more than just national and local news. Obituaries, birth announcements, wedding descriptions, church notices, travel notes, gossip and scandal could sell newspapers, so that's what editors published. You'll see examples of what can be found and learn how to locate issues of these useful records. This class is part of the library's annual "March Madness - Genealogy Style."

This event is free - to register, e-mail Genealogy@ACPL.Info or call (260) 421-1225.
