IGS Civil War Society Adds New Members

The Society of Civil War Families of Indiana inducted its newest members at a ceremony during the Indiana Genealogical Society's annual conference in Evansville:

  • Annette Harper of Columbus, Ohio--ancestor Lorenzo Judkins of Jefferson County, who served in the 82nd Indiana Volunteer Infantry and the 22nd Indiana Volunteer Infantry; ancestor James E. English of Switzerland County, who served in the 3rd Indiana Volunteer Cavalry and the 146th Indiana Volunteer Infantry
  • Allyne K. Pittle of Yorktown Heights, New York--ancestor Jabez Farrington of Howard County, who served in the 118th Indiana Volunteer Infantry, the 137th Indiana Volunteer Infantry and the 40th Indiana Volunteer Infantry
  • Sharon K. Ogzewalla of Arvada, Colorado--ancestor Samuel B. Huddleston of Wayne County, who served in the 84th Indiana Volunteer Infantry
  • Mark S. Orr of New Castle, Indiana--ancestor Abraham Runyan of Henry County, who served in the 84th Indiana Volunteer Infantry
  • James W. Reinhart of Las Vegas, Nevada--ancestor Salmon H. Wright of Washington and Jackson counties, who served in the 25th Indiana Volunteer Infantry
  • Keith E. Rott of Fishers, Indiana--ancestor John L. White of Marion County, who served in the 11th Indiana Volunteer Infantry
  • Kathy Coppola of Kokomo, Indiana--ancestor Adam T. Record of Howard County, who served in the 43rd Indiana Volunteer Infantry
  • Larry M. Jones, M.D., of McMurray, Pennsylvania--ancestor John Jones of Grant County, who served in the 89th Indiana Volunteer Infantry
  • Gene D. Sweeney of Kokomo, Indiana--ancestor Francis M. Speece of Carroll County, who served in the 46th Indiana Volunteer Infantry
  • Judith M. Tonges of Batesville, Indiana--ancestor Frederick Wachsmann of Franklin County, who served in the 83rd Indiana Volunteer Infantry
  • Becky Higgins of Streamwood, Illinois--ancestor Burwell S. Blue of Wayne County, who served in the 52nd Indiana Volunteer Infantry.

Applications for 2008 are now being accepted. The deadline to apply is December 31, 2008, with the new members to be inducted during a ceremony at the IGS annual conference on April 25, 2009 in Indianapolis. Application forms are available on the IGS website (http://www.indgensoc.org/SCWFI.html)
