Indiana Man Uses Genealogy to Prove Scottish Title

A recent article in the Indianapolis Star noted the research efforts of John C. Stirling, Jr. of Greenwood in order to link his ancestry to that of the Stirling of Glorat Baronetcy in Scotland. This baronet position has been vacant since the 1940's and the title does not come with any inheritance or land. Stirling's great-grandfather settled in Shelby County. Stirling, who is a funeral director, is already included as a "probable heir" in the 2008 edition of Debrett's Peerage & Baronetage, which lists the lineage of high-ranking families in the United Kingdom.
