Sullivan County Library To Discuss Cemetery Relocations and Archaeology

The Sullivan County Public Library will host a program, "Rest In Peace: Archaeology and Cemetery Relocations," on Tuesday, September 24 at 7 pm. Relocation of graves has become necessary due to coal mining, urban sprawl, interstate highways, etc. Alexandra Bybee, RPA Principal Investigator for Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc., will present a program about the services of Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc. This company is based in Lexington, Kentucky and dentifies cemetery locations and accurate accounts of graves through archaeological and geophysical surveys and archival research. An analysis of human remains, artifacts, coffin hardware, clothing and personal effects from excavated graves is documented throughout the process.

This program is free and open to the public.
