Genealogists Partner with Lake County Government to Index Deed Books
A recent news item in the Post-Tribune details the partnership between the Northwest Indiana Genealogical Society and the Lake County Recorder's office to make the county's records more accessible to the public. The Lake County Recorder's office is digitizing their collection of nearly 6,000 volumes of deed books; genealogy volunteers (led by Indiana County Genealogist Marlene Polster) are indexing the transactions in the books, which include land sales and mortgages.
