My great great uncle James Butler married Mary Beatty October 15, 1885 in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana. He was a widower, born in New York in 1857. His parents were from Ireland. In 1900 James and Mary were in Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana, and in 1910 and 1920 they were in Ward 13, Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. In the 1917 city directory for Indianapolis, Mary is listed as married, but James is not with them. We are not sure what happened. James' great-grandson and I would like to find out when he died (we think Indianapolis is likely) and how and what was going on. Any help or suggestions anyone could give would be wonderful.
