Confederate Civil War Veteran To Be Honored at Hamilton County Cemetery
Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan, Hamilton County, Indiana will be the site of a Confederate veteran's dedication ceremony on Saturday, September 21 at 1 pm. The General Nathan Bedford Forrest Chapter of United Daughters of the Confederacy will be dedicating a Southern Cross of Honor (sometimes referred to as an "iron cross") for Daniel L. Loving, who served in Company C of the 18th Louisiana Infantry. Loving was captured during the war and sent to prison at Camp Morton in Indianapolis. After the war ended, he settled in Boone County, Indiana and married Amanda Johns, dying in 1890.
