Indiana Historical Society To Hold Beginning Genealogy Workshop

The Indiana Historical Society in Indianapolis will hold "Start With What You Know," a workshop for those new to genealogy, on Saturday, July 27 from 10 am to noon at the Indiana History Center (450 W. Ohio St., Indianapolis IN). Attendees will learn how to interview relatives, as well as what questions to ask, and then learn how to confirm the information collected using a number of record groups and resources.

The workshop presenters are Allison DePrey and Kendra Clauser. DePrey is the current Assistant Coordinator for Education and Community Engagement at the Indiana Historical Society, having previously served as a collections assistant for reference services at IHS's William Henry Smith
Memorial Library. Clauser is the Oral History Project Archivist for IHS, and her current Indiana Community Builders project requires frequent research using genealogical applications.

Registration for the workshop is $10 for the general public and $8 for IHS members. Registration includes parking and admission to Indiana Experience the day of the program. Indiana librarians can receive 2 general LEUs for attending the workshop.

For more information or to register, call (317) 232-1882 or visit www.indianahistory.org.
