Research Tip: Family History Affiliate Libraries

FamilySearch's vast microfilm collection of genealogy records is well-known. What's less known is that this microfilm is no longer restricted to just Family History Centers - in fact, you can use the microfilm at a growing number of public and private libraries across the country. A library that applies to FamilySearch can be certified as a Family History Affiliate Library, signifying that they can receive the microfilm directly on loan from Salt Lake City.

In Indiana, these are all the Family History Affiliate Libraries:

Allen County
--Allen County Public Library, Fort Wayne

Dubois County
--Jasper Public Library, Jasper

Grant County
--Marion Public Library, Marion

Hendricks County
--Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library, Plainfield

Howard County
--Kokomo-Howard County Public Library, Kokomo

Jackson County
--Jackson County Public Library, Seymour

Jennings County
--Jennings County Public Library, North Vernon

Perry County
--Tell City-Perry County Public Library, Tell City

Pike County
--Pike County Public Library, Petersburg

Porter County
--Porter County Public Library, Valparaiso

Pulaski County
--Pulaski County Public Library, Winamac

Vanderburgh County
--Willard Library, Evansville

Vigo County
--Vigo County Public Library, Terre Haute

You order the microfilm yourself, by creating a free account on the FamilySearch website. Short-term loan is $7.50 per roll; payment by either Visa/Mastercard or a PayPal account will be accepted.
