Marion County Group To Discuss Indianapolis History
The Marion County Historical Society will hold their annual meeting on Sunday, January 30 at 2 pm at the President Benjamin Harrison House in Indianapolis. Dr. Robert Barrows and Leigh Darbee will present a free program, "Pioneer Indianapolis and The Urban Frontier," which will explore the first decades of Indianapolis history in the context of Richard Wade's classic study The Urban Frontier. It will examine how and why the city grew from an isolated village to become the state's economic, political, and cultural hub. The program is free and open to the public.
