Query: Del Carbo, Indiana
I have a relative that was born in Del Carbo, IN in 1901. However I have not been able to locate what county Del Carbo is in. Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the response. I tried Google but still unable to get a more exact location.
I then contacted Donna Adams, genealogy reference librarian, at the Sullivan County Library and, thanks to her, got an answer. She found it in an old postal atlas. It was listed in the atlas from about 1896 to 1906. On the map, Del Carbo shows up as a dot (small hamlet?) on the northern edge of Hamilton Township (Sullivan County). Starting in 1906, the atlas stated, "mail routed to Shelburn." Donna believes that area is now referred to as Jackson Hill.
Thanks for the opportunity to post on this Blog and the guidance received.
Oops! Before I get too fast-and-loose with the facts...It was Nancy Sherrill, Genealogy Librarian at the Vigo County, IN, library that furnished the postal information about Del Carbo, and the book was the "Postal History of Indiana," not a postal atlas. Roy Montgomery
