Andrew P Lee, b. c 1804-1809 in
Virginia, died 2 Aug 1865 in Willoughby, Butler, Iowa.
I'm
looking for any Indiana biography or other information to help me locate his parents.
Indiana
residencies per first marriage to Anna L (Reeves) Tracy 16 Oct 1841. Note: I
already have their marriage record from Indiana Marriage Index 1800-1941.
I'm looking for the spouse name of
Andrew's possible 2nd marriage which supposedly ended in divorce. Montgomery
County, IN per a tabled petition on Jan 19, 1848 for a divorce possibly from a
Prudence (Moudy) Guinnup. Indiana State Archives (Keenan) states that tabled
petitions are not maintained in the records and "There does not appear to be
any other petition for divorce submitted to the General Assembly from Andrew P
Lee."
Also I was told in 1843 Indiana
changed divorce laws to allow courts to grant. As suggested I checked with
Montgomery Co Clerk's Office (Leah Denbo) and was told divorce for him was not
found between Jan 19, 1848-October 23, 1848. He married another wife Melvina
Hawk on 23 Oct 1848 in Vermillion County, Illinois. 1850 census finds him and
this (2nd or 3rd) family in Delaware, Delaware County,IN. His occupation was a
tailor.
Children from 2 marriages were born
in Montgomery County, IN Albert Lee (1842-d.1848), Asa Reeves Lee (1843-1875),
Levonia Rebecca Lee (1846-1924) Waynetown, Montgomery, IN per her Civil War
widow's pension. Wife Melvina (Hawk) Lee's 1st child was b. in IN. William P
Lee (1849-), 6 more children were b. in Butler Co., Iowa.
His 1st wife Anna L (Reeves) Tracy
Lee d 29 Sep 29 1846. I'm looking for her death record and burial, possibly
both in IN. She was widowed twice (Elisha Grenard; and John Tracy) before
marrying Andrew P Lee. She is found in 1840 as the head of the house in Coal
Creek, Montgomery, Indiana a year before her marriage to Andrew P Lee.
I'd appreciate any help in finding
Andrew's parents and Anna's death location and burial information. Thank you.
