The Genealogy Center of the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne will offer a free class on Wednesday, February 13 on how to do genealogy research from home. The class, "Plug-In Your Armchair Genealogy: Researching From Home," will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 pm in the library's Meeting Room A. This class, led by Dawne Slater-Putt, takes the armchair research of the past - letters, queries, Interlibrary loan and phone calls - and gives it a modern twist. There's so much that can be found through the Internet to advance your research, even if you do not subscribe to a single commercial (for-pay) database!
After the session, you can grab a snack nearby and then return at 7 pm for the Allen County Genealogical Society of Indiana's monthly meeting, which will also be held in the library's Meeting Room A.
This class is free but registration is required - to register, please e-mail Genealogy@ACPL.Info or call (260) 421-1225.
For more information on the class, see the library's WinterTech brochure.
