The Indiana Genealogical Society's annual conference is just 7 days away. The conference will be on Saturday, April 10 from 9 am to 5 pm at the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne.
The conference theme is "Charting Our Course" and Dick Eastman of Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter will be the featured speaker, with various topics on aspects of technology. There will also be sessions on immigration records, photo restoration and digital projects.
Pre-registration for the conference is $30 for IGS members, $35 for non-members (registration at the door will be $40). You can register online directly at the IGS website, or download and print the registration form. Librarians can receive LEUs for attending the conference sessions.
One reason to get to Fort Wayne early: the library's Genealogy Center will be open extended hours--6 pm to midnight--on Friday, April 9, exclusively for conference attendees.
Anotehr reason to arrive a day early: the Indiana Genealogical Society will hold a seminar at the library on Friday, April 9 from 9 am to 4 pm. The seminar theme is "Preservation From The Bottom Up," with sessions on records preservation at the personal level, county level and archives level. Librarians can also receive LEUs for attending the seminar sessions. Pre-registration for the seminar is just $5 (or $7 at the door, if seating is still available).
