Seeking help from
Perry & Dubois County, Indiana with the brick wall I have. I am attempting to join Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)
with the patriot of Joshua Logan Younger, buried in Lawrence County, IN
(Find-A-Grave 8850114). My connection is Isaac Hardin (Find-A-Grave 119974757),
my 4th gg through his wife, Amelia Ann Younger (Find-A-Grave 119974782).
They lived in
Perry County, IN and died there just a couple of weeks apart in October 1839. I
visited their graves several years ago and have also obtained a copy of Isaac’s
will. Folklore has it that Amelia is the daughter of Joshua Logan Younger,
however, I have been unable to find any proof. The DAR has no evidence of her
being a child of his and there is no record of the marriage of Isaac and Amelia
(although folklore has it in different counties in Kentucky). In working with a
librarian, I find that there was not a newspaper in Perry County until around
1852.
I was able to
obtain a book that is held at the Tell City Library that indicates the above
connection, however, there are no sources associated with the book, and
therefore, it too is folklore. The book did indicate that Isaac and Amelia were
Baptist. Although I am relatively sure that her last name was Younger, that too
is up for discussion.
Any assistance
would be most appreciated!
