I am looking for information about my 3rd great-grandfather Nathan
Stanley, born 9 Aug 1806, Guilford County, NC. He was a Quaker and
married 28 Oct 1824, Phebe Hollingsworth at Dover Monthly Meeting in Guilford
County, NC. They moved from Guilford County to Plainfield,
Hendricks County, Indiana between 1850 and 1860 censuses.
It appears he was
in Lawrence, KS in 1877. but returned by 1880 census to Craig, Switzerland
County, Indiana. I have a date of death of 1886, but no source
citation. For Phebe I have 2 different dates of death, 1899 and
1895. One source says she was buried at Six Mile Cemetery, Hatfield,
Arkansas. Again, no source citation information given or explanation for
why she was in Arkansas.
I have their
children listed from census records and Hinshaw's Encyclopedia of Quaker
Genealogy as: Nancy C. (1825), Sarah (1826-1828), William P. (1828-1865),
Sarah J. (1830), Isaac H. C. (1832-1927), Cyrus K.(1835), Gulielma
E.(1837-1866), Eliza Ann (1840-1841), and ELiza Jane (1845).
I would like to
correspond with others working on this line and find the correct death
information for Nathan and Phebe, and why they went to Kansas and
returned. We have done Family Finder DNA testing on two descendants,
3rd great-grandson of Nathan and Phebe: Stanley Moore results at
FTDNA and GEDmatch.com; and 4th great-grandson: J A Hodges results at
23andme and GEDmatch.com.
