The Monroe County Historical Society (Monroe County History Center) in Bloomington is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Executive Director. The Executive Director oversees the management of the organization, which includes a local history museum, a local history library, a museum store, and a variety of programs and special events. The candidate should have a good understanding of Indiana history and knowledge/experience in nonprofit management. The candidate must have the ability to manage a nonprofit organization, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with outstanding interpersonal and organizational abilities. Business strengths should include strong computer skills, personnel, financial and facilities management experience. The director manages staff and works with the board, committees, and volunteers. A bachelor’s degree in museum management or a related field is preferred, with at least two years of experience desired. Requires flexible work schedule, including some evening and weekends.
