German Genealogy Workshop To Be Held in Indianapolis

The Indiana Chapter of Palatines to America (German Genealogy Society) will hold their fall workshop from 9:30 am to 2:15 pm on Saturday, October 19 at the MCL Cafeteria South Banquet Room (3630 S. East St.) on the south side of Indianapolis. The theme of the workshop will be "The Religions of Our German Ancestors," and Dr. James Divita and Dr. Giles Hoyt will be the featured speakers. Sessions will include the religions of ancestors during their time in Germany; the religions of ancestors during their time in America, and how to locate church records, with an emphasis on Indiana and the Midwest. Sue Dillon will conclude the day's events with a presentation about Frakturs and showing a family Bible that was printed in 1788 in Nuremberg. There will also be a service provided to translate German documents, and LEU credits are available for Indiana librarians.

Registration is $15 for Pal-Am members, $20 for non-Pal-Am members (or Pal-Am members if registering after October 7th). Lunch is on your own. Registration forms are available online (PDF). Questions? Please contact indianapalam@gmail.com.
