The Indiana Genealogical Society has updated the Orphans in Indiana (1830's-1900's) database that is in the Miscellaneous Records section of Members Only.
This database was donated by Dawne Slater-Putt, CG and is being shared with the Allen County Public Library. It is an index of individuals who were raised by someone with a different surname than their own, using information culled from various sources (primarily published county histories and genealogical society periodicals). It is in progress and will be periodically updated.
This database is free to the public--no membership is required in order to view it.
The Indiana Genealogical Society has over 260 databases in the Members Only area, covering 55 Indiana counties. More databases will be added over time.
