A Christmas Eve fire at the United Way building in Columbus, Indiana has also affected the Bartholomew County Historical Society. According to a
news report, the fire in the building (which was home to 27 non-profit agencies) also caused significant damage to the society's collection which was housed there. As many as 75,000 pieces of memorabilia may have been destroyed; some items in their collection, including old photos, are stored in their museum and thus were not affected by the fire.
