Excavation of Indianapolis Cemetery To Be Discussed
The Indiana Medical History Museum in Indianapolis will host a talk on Wednesday, March 25 from 4-5 pm by Stephen P. Nawrocki, PhD, a forensic anthropologist from the University of Indianapolis. In the talk, "Raising The Dead: When Our Ancestors Are Evicted," he will discuss the excavation of the Wright-Gentry-Whitesell Cemetery on the northeast side of Indianapolis in 2007, and how the remains were moved to Crown Hill Cemetery in 2008. The talk is free and the public is welcome.
Ancestry.com Library Edition Class Offered in Noblesville
The Hamilton East Public Library in Noblesville will offer a class on how to use Ancestry.com's Library Edition on Wednesday, March 25 in the Computer Training Room from 9:30 am to noon. The class is hands-on, and participants will have time at the end of the class to work on their own research. Allen County Library Offers Genealogy Wiki Lecture
The Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne will offer a free lecture on Saturday, April 25 at 10 am by Cynthia Theusch about the WeRelate.org genealogy wiki. This lecture is open to the public and is a repeat of a program in January, which many could not attend due to a severe ice storm.

Photo Identification Session Offered in Indianapolis
The Indiana Historical Society will host an event with Maureen Taylor on Tuesday, March 10 at 7 pm at the society's Frank and Katrina Basile Theater. Taylor will speak on her experience identifying the subjects and dates of old photos. Orphans Program in Terre Haute
The Wabash Valley Genealogy Society in Terre Haute will present a program, "Orphans, Fosters, And Ways to Connect the Puzzle," on Monday, March 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Vigo County Public Library in Terre Haute.

Research Lock-In in Ripley County
The Tri-County Genealogical Society, which represents Decatur, Franklin and Ripley counties, is sponsoring a Research Lock-In on Friday, May 15 from 5 to 11 pm at the Batesville Memorial Public Library in Ripley County. Researchers must be in the library before it closes at 5 pm. Society members will be on hand to assist researchers in locating materials. The Batesville library has genealogy resources covering Franklin, Decatur, Ripley, and Dearborn counties. If you would like to reserve time on the library's computers, please call ahead. Cemetery in Jennings County To Be Restored
Brad Manzenberger of Stone Revival Cemetery Restoration will lead a restoration of the Gaddy/Wykoff Cemetery in Old Paris (which is in Jennings County, about 14 miles from the town of North Vernon) on Saturday, April 18. The restoration work will begin at 9 am and go until 5 pm, with instructions being provided in the morning. IGS Appoints Boone County Genealogist
At its February board meeting, the Indiana Genealogical Society appointed Darlene Anderson of Lebanon, Indiana as the Indiana County Genealogist for Boone County. Darlene volunteers at the Boone County Historical Society and also indexes newspapers at the Lebanon Public Library. She is also webmaster for the Boone County Genealogical Society's website.

IGS Appoints Rush County Genealogist
At its February board meeting, the Indiana Genealogical Society appointed Pam Steed of Milroy, Indiana as the Indiana County Genealogist for Rush County. Pam is a co-coordinator of the Rush County site for the INGenWeb Project and has helped index several cemeteries. She recently helped create the Rush County Genealogical Society.

IGS Adds Cemetery Index to Members-Only
The Indiana Genealogical Society has added a cemetery index for Noble County to the Members-Only section of its website. The index is of Merriam Christian Chapel Cemetery in Noble Township. This is a free database and was donated by Penny L. North and Jim Cox.
Index to Fayette County's Pioneer Cemeteries Now Online
The Whitewater Valley Genealogical Association in Connersville has now added an index to their website of all of the pioneer cemeteries in Fayette County. This index was compiled by Indiana County Genealogist Pat Summan and is a companion to the 2-volume "Fayette County Pioneer Cemetery Guide," which was published last year by the Fayette County Cemetery Commission.

Franklin County Veterans Sought
As part of the celebration of Franklin County's bicentennial in 2011, the county is publishing a commemorative book about veterans who have ties to Franklin County. DNA Lecture Offered in West Lafayette
The Tippecanoe Area Genealogical Society will meet on Saturday, May 2 at 2 pm at the MCL Cafeteria in West Lafayette (521 Sagamore Parkway West, West Lafayette IN 47906).
