The National Archives has officially increased its rates for photocopies. The new rates will go into effect on October 1st. The Archives announced the proposed increases back in February, and received comments from over 1,200 people. Some of the comments led them to scale back on the amount of their proposed increases:
--Copies of Civil War pension files were scheduled to increase to $125, but will instead be increased to $75, if less than 100 pages (there will be a price break for copies above and beyond the 100 page limit).
--Copies of pension files for service that pre-dates the Civil War (such as the Revolutionary War) were scheduled to increase to $60, but will instead be increased to $50.
The amount of the other proposed increases was not changed:
--Copies of passenger arrival lists and census records will increase to $25 per page
--Copies of land entry records will increase to $40
--Copies of bounty land warrant application files will increase to $25
--Copies of military service files more than 75 years old will increase to $25
