They married about 1790 in Woodford County, Kentucky which was created from Fayette County in 1789.

I have traced the current list of descendants of Valentine Stoner, and will be searching deeds and tax records of Kentucky and Clark County, Indiana to verify/validate his children's names and their spouses.

Unfortunately, the Valentine Stoner of Clark County, IN died intestate and according to a Clark County librarian and genealogist, also left no intestate records. Hence, land and tax records should be enlightening.

Valentine Stoner's wife, Rosanna Sarah Stucker, was the daughter of Revolutionary War soldier Pvt. George Stucker and his wife Margaret/Peggy Mitchell. Name and residence patterns indicate that Margaret appears to have been the sister of Frederick Mitchell. The Stuckers and Mitchells, and probably Valentine Stoner, resided at Bryan Station during the Revolutionary War.

After George Stucker, his brother Jacob Stucker, and Frederick Mitchell were killed by Indians in about 1781/1782 while residing at Bryan Station.

Frederick Mitchell, who also appears listed at John Frederick Mitchell in KY land grants and county deeds, married Rosanna Shogun on 2 Mar 1767 in Rowan County (Yadkin River Valley), North Carolina.

Contrary to family folklore, this indicates that the Mitchell and Stucker families, and possibly the Stoner families, resided in NC before coming to Bryan Station, then Fayette County, in the district of Kentucky, Virginia.

After George, Jacob and Frederick were killed by Indians, they were awarded tract of land lying on the waters of Glenn Creek, Fayette, County, Kentucky. In 1789, that same area became part of Woodford County which was created from Fayette County.

Valentine Stoner (FamilyTree ID# L7XT-94F), born about 1779, is listed as having been the son of Abraham Stoner, Sr., who was born in Germany and immigrated to Philadelphia. Abraham Stoner died in KY. They were probably Palatine emigrants similar to the Stucker and Mitchel families who immigrated to Philadelphia and settled in the Yadkin River Valley of NC before settling at Brian Station, Kentucky.

I will hopefully learn more about Valentine Stoner, his descendants and ancestry, as I comb through land, tax and Revolutionary war records of VA, KY and Indiana. Watch for additional information listed for Valentine Stoner in FamilyTree in the coming weeks and months.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06938282552849804833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7972303867688718206.post-9309858472003545172021-08-01T18:04:41.539-04:002021-08-01T18:04:41.539-04:00Any info on Valentine will be appreciated.
